The water sensor is usually mounted within the hull of the boat, specifically above the waterline, where it can effectively detect the presence of water intrusion. Its primary function is to monitor for any abnormal water levels in areas such as the bilge, where water can accumulate. If the sensor’s terminals come into contact with water, it triggers an alarm by sending a signal to the alarm system.
This setup is particularly useful for early detection of problems, such as bilge pump failure, clogged pump outlets, or leaks, which could lead to water accumulating dangerously inside the vessel. By providing an immediate alert, the sensor helps the crew take timely action to prevent further flooding, thus safeguarding both the boat and its occupants. It acts as a critical component in the boat’s safety system, reducing the risk of sinking or severe damage due to unnoticed water ingress.
When used with the PlatinumX the water sensor has an alert when armed or disarmed.
When used with the ProtectorX the water sensor will alarm when armed.
The sensor is supplied with batteries and has ~5yr lifecycle
